Basic Information About Our Event
Many of our guests have some of the same questions, so we thought we would try to answer some of the most common here. Think of this section as a sort of informal FAQ for the Larson/Glenn union 🙂
FAQ
We are looking forward to a semi-formal event with comfortable clothing, scrumptious food, and good people to share in our special day. As the wedding is taking place in March (in Florida), the weather could go in several different directions. Most likely, it will be a nice day with mild, comfortable temperatures, but we are asking our guests to be prepared with a jacket or wrap, in case it ends up being a little on the cooler side. We will have a large event tent on site to provide shade and cover in the event of rain, but this will be an outdoors event so guests should bear that in mind when selecting their wardrobe, especially shoes. This may not be the ideal situation for high heels or stilettos.
We prefer a drawn out affair to something shorter and more formal, so expect dinner to be served over a majority of the evening in a leisurely fashion, with guests encouraged to mingle over a glass of wine or a local craft beer, or ruminating over our handmade pickle bar or build-your-own baked potato station.
We enjoy a spiritual life if not one of religion and, in keeping with this, our ceremony and officiant will be secular in nature, eschewing some of the more formal elements found in more devout surroundings. We are asking our friends and family to respect our choices and to join us in reverence, in excitement, and in devotion to one another as we tie our lives together and begin our journey together.
We hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the menu we have in mind. Whether you’re a keto-loving meatatarian, violently vegan, or something in between, we’ve got you covered. We feel strongly about supporting local merchants and to this end, we’ve partnered with M-N-M Bbq, a nearby purveyor of pulled pork, pickled peppers, and piquant potato salad!
We’ll save the specifics of the menu for the special day, but want to let our guests know that we’ve tried our best to anticipate and provide for the needs of our friends and family members, and we reckon you’ll most probably be pleased with the results. If you are concerned or have questions, please feel free to reach out and we’ll do our best to answer your concerns.
We are lucky enough to be getting married in beautiful Clearwater, Florida, land of palm trees, beaches, and beautiful sunsets (at least until sea level rise reclaims all we hold dear).
The celebration will be held, weather permitting, in a gorgeous and sprawling backyard on the estate of Brianna’s parents, Perry and Michelle. In a leafy neighborhood, their spacious and lovely home sits on just over an acre just minutes from beaches, hotels, and shopping plazas.
While we don’t anticipate mosquitos being a large problem, we will have repellant spray on hand as well as sunscreen. In the event of rain, the event will take place inside a large event tent on the property. Free valet parking will be available for those driving to the event.
If you are looking to book accommodations, be sure to check in with us regarding block-booking. We are in negotiations with a nearby luxury hotel in hopes of securing a significant discount for our guests.
What incredible times we live in! Regardless of political ideology, creed, or color, we think we can all agree that none of us expected the past couple of years to go the way they have and most of us would have probably chosen a different way for things to have unfolded throughout our country and the world. In any event, we are committed to providing an environment where all attendees can feel comfortable and safe. For this reason, we are asking our guests to either be vaccinated or to have a negative Covid test prior to attending our wedding. For those guests who are unable or unwilling to be vaccinated, we further request that they mask or practice physical distancing while in attendance.
We would both like to stress that we are not making these requests based on a political ideology or in an effort to alienate any of our friends or family – quite the opposite, if you were invited, we love you and we want everyone we love to be able to let their hair down and have a little fun with us on our big day! We are asking for our guests to take these precautions because we have family members who are vulnerable and unable to be vaccinated due to underlying health concerns, and because Brianna and many of her friends/guests work with very vulnerable members of our community, Theatre eXceptional, a theatre company for, by, and with adults with disabilities serves a community who are often at higher risk for serious affects and .medical complications.
While we are determined to provide a safe and supportive environment for our guests, we also believe in and respect our friends and family members’ rights to their own beliefs. We decided the best policy was to put the decision in the hands of our individual guests. To be clear, we intend to operate on the honor system. We will not be policing the event or harassing people – we are asking those of you who may or may not fall into either category of guests to please take our wishes into account and determine your plans accordingly.
Please note that this situation is always in flux and we will be adjusting accordingly as we get closer to the day, based on current CDC guidelines. Thank you for understanding and honoring our wishes. We can’t wait to (safely) party down with you!
We will be providing detailed information about parking and transportation as our big day gets closer. For the time being, we can confirm that there will be free valet parking (guests are encouraged to tip for excellence in service). We are working to provide shuttle transportation for those guests who are staying at nearby hotels but have not yet arrived at a solution. Please return to this page for up to date information about parking and transportation at any time with more frequent updates expected closer to the wedding.
While not exactly a theme, we have chosen the sunflower as a symbol of our special day. Beautiful, optimistic, and always looking towards tomorrow, the sunflower is emblematic of our love!
Colors tend towards earth tones, taken from nature. The bridal party will be dressed in wine-colored dresses from David’s Bridal, and the groomsmen will wear gray suits with wine colored accents. The wedding party is trending towards a classic American look featuring suspenders and vests for the men, and flower crowns and bracelets for the ladies.
Guests are encouraged to join us in our theming, while remembering to dress for comfort and the gorgeous Florida weather.
As the day gets closer, we will post details about anything we think you might need to know here. As of this writing (02.14.22) there is nothing in particular you need to be aware of that’s not already covered above, but make sure you check back again before the big day, just in case we discover some detail you might want to know!
